The Old School Building Jubilee Clock and its workings have been removed and taken to Smiths of Derby for repair. The face is cast iron and weighs around 50lbs. Hoping to see it back in place at the end of September/beginning of October.

The scaffolding has had to be adjusted for them to get the bell and hammer off, which also need repairing, the bracket holding the bell has bent, presumably when the finial fell off/was removed and the bell is resting on the roof. Accessing the workings of the clock was via a ladder through a loft hatch – a bit of a tight squeeze ! There is also a wasps nest which will have to be removed also.
The Nottingham Post are coming over a in couple of days to do a story on the clock, updates to follow…

CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all who donated to the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Fund for the Restoration of the Old School Clock.
The appeal will continue for a little while yet as prices are finalised and additional costs, such as scaffolding, are considered. Should our target be exceeded this will be spent on village enhancements, possibly refurbishing the clock’s finial, or adding a memorial plaque and noticeboard.
Once again Thank You for your generosity in permitting the village to celebrate this very special event in a meaningful and permanent manner.
Please don’t forget to support the Nelson Fest which is taking place on Saturday 30th July between 12-5pm where 100% of the proceeds from the Raffle will be donated to the Jubilee Fund.
